Suicide Prevention and Awareness
For over twenty years, I have held multiple leadership and training roles with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention regarding their mission to “…save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP creates a culture that’s smart about mental health by engaging in the following core strategies:
· Funding scientific research
· Educating the public about mental health and suicide prevention
· Advocating for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention
· Supporting survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide.”
In addition to my work around providing grief support, I am one of the founding members and, currently, President of the Illinois chapter, where I have initiated multiple impact building initiatives.
I consider every contribution that I've made to AFSP to be a memorial to my mother's life and legacy. Learn more about my work in Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Advocacy here.
